Str-Khan
Natural Habitat: The Str’Khan race evolved on a gas giant much like the planet Jupiter in the Terran star system, the most important differences are in the size and overall mass of their home world. Tir’Klath’an (which translates literally as birth star), has almost 8 times Jupiter’s mass and a correspondingly higher specific gravity. It is a popular theory among the race that their world is, in fact a failed star. Contrary to popular belief, the Str’Khan did not evolve on the surface of this world; instead they evolved in the “less turbulent” upper hydrogen / methane atmosphere.
The intense atmospheric pressures and high temperatures, not to mention the extreme gravitational fluctuations in this “habitable” region, gave rise to frequent high energy plasma storms, E.M. anomalies that resulted in the species’ extreme resistance to adverse environments and near immunity to most forms of E.M. radiation.
Physical Appearance: The Str khan are a silicon based life form, composed of a Hyper Dense Multi phasic Crystalline composite polymer. They are humanoid bipeds that appear to be sculpted from crystal of various types, colorations may vary but are always translucent. They take the form of an athletic male or female human, with no facial features except for their eyes, which are small and angular. They also have an arrangement of crystal spines or spikes which protrude from the upper back and shoulders. These growths are also present to a much lesser degree on the head, where they actually resemble human hair. The arrangement of these spikes is as individual as a human’s fingerprints.
Average Size: approximately 5.9 ft (1.8 m) in height
Average Weight: 330 to 440 lbs (150 to 200 kg)
Basic Physiology: Despite their great many differences, much of the Str-Khan physical function is familiar to the humanoid norm. They have a number of dedicated organs and glandular structures, muscle tissues and other familiar things. What is different is the nature and make up of their bodies. Like humans they have an internal skeletal structure, but they also have an incredibly tough epidermal layer of polarized silicon which serves as both a skin and a kind of natural armor plating. Internally, the Str-Khan have no stomach or intestinal structures. As they obviously have no mouth they lack a sense of taste. They feed by a process of osmosis and Photo synthesis much like a plant. Because of this, Str-Khan do not wear any form of clothing aside from ceremonial cloaks or head dresses and sashes. While they do have a remote understanding of other species’ sense of modesty, this is simply not an issue with them. The question of nudity is a moot point considering the sexes are considered equal and the visual display of ones gender is also not an issue. Sexual organs of both genders are concealed in the body until they are needed. The reason for this is simple, and very practical. Str-Khan feed constantly through their skin. Covering themselves extensively for more than a few hours at a time can cause serious health issues.
You may also wonder how the Str-Khan communicate without the basic humanoid vocal apparatus. It is a known fact that crystals resonate sound when properly manipulated. By manipulating the finer crystals on the head, the Str-Khan can produce sounds. With practice and long hours of study, human speech is possible; however, the nature of their “vocal” apparatus produces very musical voices. Among themselves, Str-Khan communicate via telepathy.
Special Abilities: As a result of their harsh native environment and constant exposure to high gravity, it goes without saying that the Str-Khan have great physical strength. There crystalline nature also makes them resistant but not immune to most energy based weapons. They are susceptible to extreme High frequency focused sonic attacts, ie and old Sonic disruptor would prove most effective against a Str-Khan. In addition to this, all Str-Khan are gifted telepaths and about 70% of the race also have some skill with telekinetic ability as well.
Archetype: Your typical Str-Khan is often reserved and quiet. They have difficulty concealing the truth from others and often are confused as to why one would attempt to do so. Belonging to a race of telepaths almost precludes lying as one can always read the surface thoughts of those close to them. Probing any deeper without ones consent is paramount to rape and never condoned. While they do recognize a physical superiority to most organic beings the average Str-Khan will try to take up a mentoring role with most. As members of an elder race, it is felt that they have a responsibility to the younger races as teachers and roll models. This can sometimes be construed as arrogance. Rarely it can become such if ones perceptions lead them to feel truly superior. Str-Khan are very individual and as such, are capable of a great deal of varied personalities.
Images to follow:
The others:
Shaie’Thee: No formal contact has occurred as yet with this race but given their passionate outlooks one may find them a bit too reckless and overzealous. Temper their passions with wisdom and they will be great.
Arthen – Canine: No formal contact with this race as yet. Deeply introspective; thinkers. They have a great deal of potential. Much promise in them. Now if only they can be made to learn that it is not always necessary to explore every angle of every situation before acting. Sometimes one must act on the moment.
Korath – Feline: First Contact with the Korath was nearly 8 years ago when A Korath manned deep space exploration ship wandered into Str-Khan space. They are a magnificently creative and curious people. Their deep love of life and compassion for all living beings can be a two edged sword. It drives them to seek out the unknown but if left unchecked it will eventually lead to their undoing. Treat them as learned children. Nurture them for their talents and allow them to continue to grow. When possible, curb their curiosity a bit and help them see that all things are revealed in time.
Cymarians- Reptilians: A deeply honorable people. Their race has shared an experience we would wish on none. Near extinction. They have fought hard to rebuild their world and now seek to expand and learn. It is more than simply right to help them. It is our duty to aid them as siblings. They have much to learn, but never forget, they have learned much.
