The news of Senator Kay’thor Echarthis death came as a surprise to me. The Senator was extremely long lived even by Cymarian standards. One hundred and sixty cycles old, and in his youth was the project lead on the Xyan initiative. He and I had a most intresting relationship since my return to Cymar space, and I admired his candor and honorable actions. He was truly a good man. He told me that he was glad that I had found my way on my own, free of the chaos that was the empire’s death. He was a man that I looked to as a father, and of anyone else since my return to this space, was the one who I wished to make proud.
His death has only confirmed my state of being. The pain I have right now I wish I could turn off, but as he once said during my rebellious years, “Emotions do not make you alive. Wanting them to go away does.” I understand what he meant now by that statement.
I was asked to speak at his memorial and just finished doing so. Odd that the shipyards should come to rise as soon as we broke from the gravesite. My eyes allowed me to see at least the slight profile of the ship but nothing much more than that. The Cymar believe that every soul is returned to the world on their death and by doing so more are created from random parts of this spiritual matrix. I don’t know the truth to that but it does make me feel as he’s not truly gone. ‘Kree and ‘Tres were there also. Tres had decided to alter his fur and hair color once more sporting a almost artic white fur with icy blue-black hair. Kree, ever the Spartan individual, was still keeping his hair cropped short and looking completely proper. We spent a good deal of time talking about the state of things and of course Xyankar.
It’s been a week since the funeral and it was good to get back with family again but now my leave is up and time to return to the Phoenix.
