Arthen - Canine
Homeword: Arthis (Type M)
Type: Canine Bipedal
Average Height: 5.3 to 6.1 feet
Average weight: 145 lbs
Colorings: Steel Grey, Black, ghost white, and other assorted canine colorations and markings
Features: Enhanced hearing, Foot paws has claws, Typical Canine tail.
Weaknesses: Tendency to be a bit overly obsessive about details. Reluctant to act before exploring every option
Archetype : If not for the Korath, the Arthen would probably not of interfered with the near destruction of the Cymarian race. However their leaders were convinced that helping the dying race would set the universe on a better path. The same path they wished to follow, even without the presence of Cymar. The Korath proposal was debated in secret for months, before the resolution passed.
The Arthen are strategists at heart looking at the far reaching plans and the intricaces of how events will play out. Many of the Alliance diplomats come from this quite patient race.
In ancient times the Arthen worshiped a being called Jaksir. Also known in their texts as "The one who weaves what is". It is a point of contention what the current Arthen if this being was actually a fabrication, or possibly an advanced member of the Progenitor race. While most Arthen dismiss ancient superstitions, a few believe their race was descended from the Progenitors themselves, and that explains their ability to "farsee." Farseeing is an ability possessed by a few Arthen, as they can meditate and literally follow the paths of events and predict where events and people will be in the future. Farsight is not predicting the future, it is a statistical approximation of how people and cultures act in a given circumstance. The accuracy of the prediction is limited by the knowledge of the subject.
Karyn Jarreth of Alliance Tactical conveys the state of the galaxy:
Korath (Feline) : Their insatiable lust for life is only equaled by their talent for creation. It is good they saw hope in what was thought to be coming darkness.
Cymarians: The case study in how tyranny no matter how civil, cannot exist permanently. They have changed but it remains to be seen if the old ways will return, but I believe they will rise a stronger race from the ashes.
Keraja(Rodent) : They see patterns in what they are witnessing, but why cannot they see the patterns in created in the future and past? They are however an integral part of our culture, and a great asset to the alliance.
Kyris(Mustline) : They see plans and paths much as we do, but we fear they use such knowledge for a far darker purpose. They have been supportive of the alliance, and they have given me no reason to openly distrust their membership.
Laurne : Their time will come much as the Cymarian's did. However with their altered species, forced lack of passion, and current trends, we are uncertain if they will survive the coming chaos.
Atlantian : They are honorable and if they can endure the growing pains they are experiencing they will be a great force for good in the galaxy.
Yoshiru(Lapine) : We have not seem much of their culture as may of their most personal endevours are done in secret. But what we have seen of them lends us to believe that they are an important addition to the alliance.
Shaie'thee(Humanoid) : They are a very young race. So young in fact, that they still wonder at the most basic of things. There is something to be said for taking the time to sit back and just appreciate what we have.
Borg : A singular purpose and the strength to carry it out. We are envious at their clarity, and their relentless pursuit of their goals. We wouldn't however want to sacrifice what they did to achieve such purpose.
